Obama to Create Separate Court for Detainees?

President-elect Barack Obama’s tentative plan to create a new legal system with the purpose of trying detainees currently being held at Guantanamo Bay has drawn widespread criticism.  The proposed system has worried many human rights advocates concerned with problems of ensuring justice and fair trials while the government invents practices that depart from those of the traditional judicial system of the United States.  The shortcomings of the procedures used by the Bush administration in regard to Guantanamo detainees are testament to the difficulties inherent in creating substandard systems to dispense American justice.
